Arwah Cave, a short drive from Sohra town, is less crowded than Mawsmai and more rewarding for travellers curious about geology. A paved path through the forest leads to the entrance, and inside the lit passages you can spot fossilised marine life embedded in the limestone — a reminder that these hills were once under the sea.
The cave is longer than Mawsmai, with some narrow sections, and the walk to it offers good views over the Sohra landscape. It is well managed, with steps and railings.
Add it to a Cherrapunji day if you have already seen Mawsmai or want a calmer alternative.
