Weisadong Falls (Wei Sawdong) is a three-tiered waterfall hidden in a forest pocket off the Sohra–Dawki road, and the middle tier — a wide fan of water falling into a perfectly circular turquoise pool — is one of the most striking sights in Meghalaya.
The catch is the descent. You climb down a series of steep bamboo and wooden ladders bolted into the hillside, about 15 minutes each way, slippery when wet. It is not suitable for very young children, anyone with knee trouble, or flip-flops. Handrails exist but treat them as a suggestion. In return you get a natural amphitheatre that most tour buses never reach.
Go in the morning when sunlight reaches the pool and the colour is at its best. The site is community-managed with a small entry fee, and the villagers who maintain the ladders deserve the support. Combine with Nokhalikha Falls, Arwah Cave and Dainthlen Falls for a complete Sohra day.
