Dainthlen Falls lies near Sohra, where a stream spreads across wide rock shelves before dropping into a gorge. The rock around the falls carries carvings linked to the Khasi legend of the Thlen, a monstrous serpent said to have been slain here by villagers.
It is an easy stop with viewing areas and far fewer people than Nokhalikha or Seven Sister Falls. The flow is strongest in the monsoon; in the dry months it becomes a gentle cascade.
Combine it with nearby Weisadong Falls for the quieter half of the Sohra waterfall circuit.
