The living root bridge at Riwai, a short drive from Mawlynnong, is the most accessible living root bridge in Meghalaya. A few minutes' walk down steps through the forest brings you to a single span woven from the aerial roots of rubber fig trees, arching over a stream.
For travellers who cannot manage the 3,500-step Nongriat trek to the double decker bridge, Riwai offers the same extraordinary living architecture with far less effort. The bridge is maintained by the local community, which charges a small entry fee.
It is almost always combined with Mawlynnong and Dawki.
