Siju Cave, near the Simsang river in the South Garo Hills, is one of the best-known cave systems in the region and is sometimes called the "cave of bats". Only the first section is suitable for ordinary visitors, and even that involves wading through water in the dark — deeper exploration is strictly for experienced caving expeditions.
The countryside around Siju, including the river, is quiet and scenic. It is usually combined with Balpakram National Park on a multi-day Garo Hills trip.
Go only with a local guide, proper torches and footwear you do not mind getting wet.
