Mawkdok Dympep is the viewpoint where the road from Shillong to Sohra first opens onto a deep, sweeping valley, with terraced slopes and layered ridges fading into the distance. On clear mornings the view stretches for miles; in the monsoon, clouds pour through the valley below you.
There is a viewing deck, tea stalls, and a valley zip-line run by an adventure operator for those who want to cross it the fast way. Most travellers stop here for 30–60 minutes on the way to Cherrapunji.
Nearby, the Duwan Sing Syiem bridge viewpoint gives another angle over the same gorges.
