Ward's Lake is a small, horseshoe-shaped artificial lake in central Shillong, laid out in the British era and named after Sir William Ward, a former Chief Commissioner of Assam. A wooden bridge crosses the middle, paths loop around the water through flowerbeds, and pedal boats are available.
It is a pleasant stroll close to Police Bazaar, and the adjoining Botanical Garden adds shaded walks. Locals come here to relax in the evenings.
It is not worth travelling for on its own, but it makes a good hour's break during a Shillong city day.
